The University of Alaska Museum at Fairbanks was an excellent source of information about Alaska. The museum had exhibits on the building of the Alaska Highway, the Alaska Pipeline, the geological composition of Alaska, little known fact about the Aleutian Islands during WWII, the northern lights, and Alaskan wildlife. We managed to spend 3 hours  there and could easily spent more time.

Sorry about the size of this picture... but I thought it was an nice summation of our journey up the Alaska Highway. The road is in a little better condition since its early construction but still an adventure (especially in the Winnebaigis). The best part of the adventure is the scenic beauty and wildlife you experience as make your way to the "last frontier"

The bear in the backgound was a real bear, all 1400 lbs!!!

Tusks of a wooly mammoth... Alaska has been a source of many prehistoric animal remains.

Some artifact from the building of the Alaskan Highway
