The morning started out so clear that we decided to drive back down to the Denali Highway to see if we could see Mt McKinley. Though we did not see the entire mountain in all its splendor, we did get to see the peaks that rise far above the clouds. If you were not specifically looking for Mt McKinley you can easily mistake the white peaks for just more cloud cover.

The mountain from a distance, see if you can make out the peaks... The peaks are in the center of the picture, easily mistaken for clouds. We estimate this picture was taken about 45 miles away from Mt McKinley and it still towers over all the closer mountains in the foreground!!!

I've cropped the peaks out and enlarged it, so its a bit blurry...

Some other mountains in the Alaskan Range

Mountain watching only took a few hours in the morning, we went white water rafting down the Nenana River in the afternoon. Sorry I don't have any actually pictures from that adventure but the camera would have gotten very wet. Here's a shot of the outfitters that we used for the rafting trip. The river is formed from Glacial runoff making the water temperature quite cool at 36 degrees, can you say burrrrrr. The rapids were a bit tame but it was still quite fun.
