We were unwilling to let our washed out backcountry experience get the best of us at Denali. We went back determined that we can conquer Denali. Though again we failed to meet out goal of walking on a glacier, the hike provided us some wonderful wildlife shots.

Sorry we don't have a shot of the bear we kicked up in the high brush, let's just say I'd like that picture as well as the picture of my face. We were walking along in high brush and I heard a loud grunt, I said hey Greg, hoping the noise was him coughing. He responded by yelling "Hey bear!" and flailing his arms. This was not the acknowledgement I was seeking for the noise I just heard. There was a loud rustling in the brush, like something charging at us, the whole time we're yelling "hey bear" and waving our arms. Greg asks do you see it, I respond with a no but I heard it over there. We naturally start moving in the opposite direction still yelling and waving... Shortly we were out in the creek bed and walking back toward the glacier with our heart in our throat.

The Glacier we hoped to walk on... we were going for the glacier on the left side of the picture.

A picture of the same glacier from about 1.5 miles from the glacier. We simply ran out of time to make the hike all the way to the glacier.

In order to get to this close to the glacier we had to hike about 6 miles. Some of the hiking was over flat creek beds, however the hike started with an ascent down this mountain.

A picture of some caribou...

A hear of caribou taken from the bus on the way back to the visitor center.
